I have just watched Jason Statham’s ‘The Beekeeper’ ; It was very evident that Jason took the time to learn of the importance of the hive. To watch him interact with bees and see how comfortable he was around the hive was a poor pleasure and that got me thinking about the benefits of raw honey.
Raw honey is a thick, sweet syrup created by honeybees and comes straight from the bee hive. In contrast to processed honey, raw honey undergoes no pasteurization.
Raw Honey is rich in antioxidants, which plays a crucial role in protecting your cells from harm caused by free radicals.
What are free radicals?
Simply put they are unstable molecules in the body that can damage the DNA in your cells and by introducing antioxidants, you have the potential to reduce the risk of developing chronic conditions.
According to Mary Poppins a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, but does it? Research has shown that a spoonful of honey for a cough is not just an old wife’s tale but works. A table spoon of raw honey per day has been linked to diabetes and cancer management. It is also an alternative treatment for digestive issues such as diarrhoea.
Please beware that honey bees are essential not because they pollinate plants and flowers, as without them humanity would not survive. If you see a tired looking bee place a teaspoon of sugar water near it.
